Service, Cats, Cosmos and Sponge Bob Squarepants

We were able to teach more lessons this week because people are finally back from vacation.

We got a new ward mission leader this week. It's hard, because Brother Cookson was the best WML of my mission. Our new one is Brother Merrill. He is a great guy, so I am sure things will go just fine.

We did some service for a trans girl this week. We were just raking yards like we have been doing lately, and we picked a house that had a lot of leaves and looked like no one was home.

I was raking the front porch when I heard the door open.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Raking your lawn."

"Why?"

"Because we want to."

"You guys don't have to do this," she said.

"It's fine. We like it."

"Is this some church thing?"

"Yes, but that's not why we do it."

"Well, normally all the leaves would be gone, but my Dad left a month ago and he normally did it."

"It sounds like you need the service then."

We raked most of the leaves up, and then this crazy neighbor lady came out and asked what we were doing. We explained again what we were doing, and she seemed surprised.

"Mind if I take pictures?" she asked.

"Uh, go ahead."

Apparently she works for an online local newspaper. She is going to call us at some point this week and interview us. Should be interesting.

Elder Gillies gave me this sweet shirt.
