Baptism and TRANSFERS!

First, the more important of the two.

On Saturday, June 22nd, Kris Oliver Conrad was baptized, and yesterday I was able to confirm him. It was an amazing experience. Kris is a soft spoken man who speaks casually of his adventures in Alaska, Switzerland, the Middle East and Nauvoo. He speaks more about Nauvoo than any place else, because he says that he felt something different there, something peaceful.

He raised two kids by himself, and has been looking into the church for years now. He decided it was time to call the missionaries. Although he lived in the 4th ward, his media referral still came to us. Some would say it was a technology glitch, but Payne, Kris and I came to the conclusion that it was because we were his missionaries. He said that no matter what happens in life, I will always be his "confirminator."

Now, the moment you've all been waiting for: TRANSFERS!

Payne has been transferred up north to Redding, to be a zone leader.

I am staying here. My new companion is Elder Henager. I think that's how it's spelled. I haven't met him yet, and I won't until tomorrow, so more on him next week.

This week has been very successful. We picked up a new investigator named Jim, and got several referrals to look into. Hopefully the broadcast from yesterday will inspire people to help us more.

Here is a photo of Elder Payne when he was super-sick

For comparison, here is a photo of Solomon Grundy

This is a picture of our district from before last transfer:

Here is another picture of me from the Chili Cook off. That kid in the green shirt is Joshua Jones. He is cool

This Week - Exotic Emails and Superpower

This week has had some ups and downs.

On Friday, we had to hand our perfect investigator over to the 4th ward. It was sad, but probably for the best. Fortunately, Elder Payne will still baptize him, and I will still confirm him. And that's the best part anyway.

Also this week, I was able to get a sweet Father's Day present that my family hasn't received yet. It was an amazing stroke of luck that this guy was Mormon AND in my ward. You will see what I mean tomorrow or Wednesday...

I am still trying to get caught up on letters to people. So If you sent me something and you haven't got a letter back, sorry! I am working on it.

Something cool: Elder Edwards of the 3rd Ward tracted into the franchise owner of the Kripy Kremes of Northern California. So the guy gave him a free year of donuts. Luckily he is willing to share.

I got my first email from Jaron today, so now I am getting updates from Russia  AND South America. This way I don't have to leave the comfort of California, but I still get to have exotic missionary experiences.

There is a good chance that Payne will get transferred and I will get a new companion. We will find out Sunday night, so this time next week we will know.

Thank you all for reading this and supporting me! I love you all!

Also, a quick challenge. I am going to use my only superpower right now.

I want to challenge you all to re-read the Book of Mormon from beginning to end by Christmas. The best part is, I can promise you as a representative of Jesus Christ that if you do this, you will have the spirit in a greater measure, and you will come much closer to Christ.

Good luck, and have a good week.

107 degrees in the shade

It was 107 degrees on Saturday, so they canceled Del Oro High's graduation. There are a couple people hospitalized because of it actually. (Valyn's Cousin Karen's Son graduated from Del Oro High this year)

We found out yesterday that our main investigator doesn't actually live in our area. We didn't know his address because the people he is renting from hate Mormons. We found it out on Friday, and now we have to call President and see if we can keep him anyway. He is already fellowshipped with the ward and everything, so it would be counter-productive to switch him right now. Hopefully it all works out.

It's hard to believe I have been gone 3 months. It feels more like a year.

Bike Wreck - It was Sweet!

Saturday night I had my first bike accident. And boy was it a good one.

We were heading home Saturday night from the Rocklin Community festival. We were about to cross the intersection to get back to our apartment, so I decided to hop off the sidewalk and into the bike lane. The problem came about when the ghetto, broken up concrete grabbed my bike tire and threw me into the street. Luckily, my name badge took the brunt of the impact, along with my shoulder. I totally destroyed my shirt though. It was sweet.

This week we taught Kris Conrad, the most prepared person ever. He is scheduled for baptism on the 22nd, and I am sure he is going to make it. He loves coming to church, and he readily recognizes the spirit. He asks very in depth questions, showing that he truly understands what we are teaching and how it affects his life. I am so excited to be able to help him come to Christ.

I found something that you guys will like. I want you guys to use it every time you offend someone (sounds like something we will be using all of the time). You will see what I mean later this week.

All is well in the work. I am eating well. I am up to 160 pounds (Keenan weighs more than Schuyler now), and I seem to be stabilizing (let's hope so).

I love you guys. Have a good week.
